Portable fire protection appliances which are commonly known as Fire Extinguishers, are a means of dealing with a small fire, to prevent the fire from spreading. They should be used by a competent person, only under the right circumstances and with extreme caution.
There may be an instance where you, your colleagues, or your family are trapped inside a building, on a stair-well, or the emergency exit is blocked by flames, or perhaps the blockage is caused by something else, therefore you have to use the fire extinguisher to tackle the flames, in order that you can utilise the blocked exit, or maybe reach an unobstructed exit.
A fire extinguisher should not be a means of tackling a large fire. Faced with this situation, One should immediately call the fire brigade and follow their instructions to complete the evacuation procedure, meeting at the designated assembly point and completing a roll-call or register to ensure nobody is left behind.

WATER
Water based fire extinguishers are designed to fight 'Class A' fires
They come in three different sizes, 3, 6 and 9 Litre.

CARBON DIOXIDE
Carbon Dioxide fire extinguishers are suitable for tackling 'Class B' fires
Co2 has a minimum '34-B' rating and come in three sizes, 2 Kg, 5 Kg and a 20 Kg wheeled unit.
Kite-marked to British and European Standards.
Epoxy polyester coated cylinder for corrosion protection, also fitted with Frost Free Horns as standard.
Comes with a wall hanging bracket for easy mounting.

The larger size carbon dioxide has a handle attached to the horn, which is clipped to the head of the extinguisher this should be removed and angled towards the base of the fire.
This extinguisher is heavy so do not try and lift, during operation, leave it on the floor.

Afff Foam Fire Extinguishers are designed to tackle 'Class A' type fires, eg; Wood, Paper, Rubber, Textile, Straw, Card, Plastics
With the addition of having protection against Flammable liquid fires, such as; Fuel, Oil, Animal and Vegetable fats, Paints, Solvents, etc..
They have a minimum '5-A' and an a '55-B' rating and come in three sizes; 2 Ltr, 6 Ltr and 9 Ltr.

Due to it's small size, this extinguisher is ideal for caravans, motor-homes, boats, cars and other vehicles with confined spaces.
Ideally coupled with Carbon Dioxide.
